Job Description

Future Careers is seeking a BI Engineer for a leading South African e-commerce platform, based in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable business intelligence solutions, transforming data into actionable insights, and supporting decision-making across the organisation. This role is ideal for a data-driven professional with strong SQL and BI reporting tool experience, a solid understanding of data modelling and cloud environments, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, innovative tech environment. Description Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data warehouse, data marts, and BI reporting solutions. Work closely with stakeholders and BI analysts to turn data into actionable insights. Analyse business and functional requirements and translate them into robust, scalable solutions. Develop and implement reporting and analytical solutions for business decision-making. Ensure data pipelines, reporting systems, and infrastructure run efficiently and reliably. Perform operational support, bug fixes, and performance enhancements. Automate data extraction and report update processes. Conduct data validation, integrity testing, and data cleansing. Optimise data models and maintain multidimensional data structures. Collaborate across teams to improve data architecture, reporting, and analytics practices. Education Profile Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent experience. 4-6 years of relevant experience in BI, data analysis, or related roles. Minimum 2 years experience developing in BI reporting tools (e.g., Looker, Looker Studio, Qlik, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI). Minimum 3 years experience with SQL. Experience with Looker, BigQuery, and Dataform is preferred. OLAP and multidimensional cube design experience. Experience with version control tools (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket). Experience with Google Cloud or another cloud provider (architecture, operations). High proficiency in working with large datasets and complex business models. Experience working in Scrum and Agile methodologies is advantageous. Retail or e-commerce industry experience is beneficial. Solutions-oriented, can-do attitude, and high energy. Excellent problem-solving skills. Proven track record of delivering high-quality work in fast-paced environments. Strong focus on results while maintaining a positive and collaborative approach. Ownership and accountability for assigned work. Interest in e-commerce, building a brand, and business growth. Customer-centric mindset. Passion for technology, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing. Self-starter who can gather and organise information into actionable solutions.
