Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Manage the construction site and all related aspects in Cape Town, including effectively managing all site staff, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Experience in commercial and industrial construction is essential.
- Manage all Notifications of Delays, Variation Orders and Non-Conformance Reporting
- Interface with client/architect/professionals and be considered the main lead representative of on site.
- Ensure project timelines are met, strictly manage these according to an agreed schedule, and understand that continual planning is required to achieve this.
- Manage quality on all work and carry out checklist inspections as per quality management procedures (ISO9001 / 2015).
- Ensure all procurement managed through the schedule/allowables and purchase orders obtained through the QS department as per the system.
- Must understand the allowable for labour, materials and plant and ensure the project stays on budget.
- Ensure all subcontractors work is performed to the quality standards of the project requirements and hold bi-monthly subcontractor site meetings.
- Manage the contract, with the assistance of the Construction Manager.
- Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to.
Requirements
- Unwavering attitude towards effective program management, quality control and cost control.
- Strong management & interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and under pressure.
- Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, or SACPCMP is advantageous.
- A solid base of at least 6 to 10 years experience in the construction field, with at least the last 5 years in a proven Site Manager role.
- A good understanding of the JBCC contract.
- Computer-literate with a good knowledge of MS Project and CCS Buildsmart would be an advantage.
- A good understanding of communication channels, and efficient with administration & paperwork.
- Own transport required
