Data & BI Support Analyst Job Title: Data & BI Support Analyst Reports to (Superior): (BI) Manager Job Purpose: Work closely with the Business Intelligence (BI) Manager to transform raw, multisource data into reliable, timely, and actionable insights. This role blends strong data fundamentals with modern AI-assisted analysis to accelerate delivery of dashboards, reports, and decision support. PERSON SPECIFICATION Qualifications & Experience: Grade 12 Tertiary qualification ( Degree/Diploma in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Computer Science or related field) 2–4 years in a Data Analyst role supporting BI/reporting, ideally in operations or service environments. Skills & Knowledge Required: SQL (intermediate to advanced): joins, aggregations, etc. Power BI: data modelling, DAX, Power Query; dashboard UX and performance optimisation. Excel (advanced): Pivot Tables, Power Query, data cleaning techniques. Nice to have: AI tool proficiency: Copilot/ChatGPT or similar for insight generation; prompt engineering best practices and result validation. Nice to have: Think-Cell Analytical storytelling: turning data into clear narratives and recommendations. Awareness of data governance and privacy (e.g., POPIA). Exposure to Python or suitable alternatives to enable report automation. Key performance indicators KPIs On-time delivery of dashboards/reports against SLAs. Data quality metrics: completeness, accuracy, reconciliation rates. Stakeholder satisfaction scores and adoption of dashboards. Measured impact of AI-assisted insights (time saved, decision quality Personal Attributes: Written Communication – The ability to express ideas clearly in memoranda, reports, letters or other documents with appropriate organization and structure, correct grammar and language and terminology that is adjusted to the Job Description: Characteristics and needs of the audience. Must be able to cope with any problems and challenges. JOB SPECIFICATION: The main tasks and responsibilities associated with the position are listed below. This is not an exhaustive list of tasks and responsibilities and any other tasks and/or responsibilities that could be reasonably expected for the position may be required. Design, build, and maintain data pipelines (ETL) from SQL databases, Excel/CSV and other sources. Develop, publish, and iterate dashboards and reports in Power BI (data modelling, DAX, Power Query). Write performant SQL for data extraction, validation, and KPI calculations. Assist with implementing data quality checks in reporting. Use AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate insight generation: trend summarisation, anomaly detection, hypothesis framing, and executive-ready narratives. Apply sound best practices in validating data before distributing any analytical data for internal or external consumption by stakeholders. Collaborate with the BI Manager and stakeholders to translate requirements into data artefacts, dashboards, and insights.
