About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Hand to join our team in Stellenbosch, responsible for overseeing construction site operations and ensuring projects are completed on time and to a high standard. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in a senior site-based role, with strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Set out new sites accurately according to drawings, measurements, and specifications
- Read and interpret construction plans to ensure correct levels and alignments
- Guide site teams on tasks such as finishing works (plastering, screeding, snag lists)
- Supervise and coordinate a small team, allocating daily tasks and maintaining productivity standards
- Maintain accurate site records and take a proactive approach to quality control and problem-solving
- Work independently and meet project deadlines
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Lead Hand or senior site-based role within the construction sector
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans
- Strong leadership skills and ability to supervise a small team
- Hands-on competence in general construction activities
- Relevant construction experience required; formal construction qualification or trade background advantageous
