About the Role

The Production & Technical Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing production processes in a manufacturing environment, ensuring that products meet quality standards while maintaining efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct production staff, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring performance.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards by monitoring production processes and implementing quality control measures.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to optimize production efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Ensure production activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Identify and resolve production issues, such as equipment breakdowns or quality problems.
  • Work with other departments, such as quality control, maintenance, and logistics, to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment (tooling).
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and identify solutions.
  • Conduct inspections and analyse issues to identify potential problems.
  • Install new machinery and equipment.
  • Replace or repair worn or damaged parts.
  • Maintain records of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Collaborate with superiors and other technicians to resolve complex issues.
  • Ensure safety protocols and procedures are followed.
  • Design new tooling on CAD when instructed to.
  • Report any quality or potential quality issues that may occur with the machinery.
  • Participate in production-related activities like setting, operating, and training personnel on machines.
  • Act as the standby for the workshop supervisor.
  • Report any production inefficiencies to the production controller or production planner.

Requirements

  • Matric
  • Relevant production qualification (an advantage)
  • Millwright trade (an advantage)
  • Strong technical expertise in a machine manufacturing environment – mechanical and electrical
  • Production/technical experience in a lamination, plastic manufacturing background (preferred)
  • Supervisory experience
  • AutoCAD experience (a definite plus)
  • Plastic extruding experience (a definite plus)
