About the Role

The General Manager (GM) role at Zuney Burgers Makers Landing in Cape Town is a critical position that requires a hands-on leader with strong business acumen, operational excellence, and people management skills to drive consistent growth, customer satisfaction, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the branch, ensuring smooth functioning across front-of-house, back-of-house, and delivery channels.
  • Maintain strict compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and food quality standards.
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficiency and consistency.
  • Manage supplier relationships, stock control, and inventory management.
  • Own full P&L responsibility of the branch.
  • Drive sales targets, profitability, and cost control (labour, food costs, wastage).
  • Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly performance reports for head office.
  • Develop and implement growth strategies to increase foot traffic, delivery sales, and brand presence at Makers Landing.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor team members across all levels.
  • Build a high-performance culture through motivation, accountability, and staff development.
  • Create and manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for peak periods.
  • Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary procedures when necessary.
  • Ensure the branch delivers exceptional customer service in line with Zuney Burgers brand standards.
  • Handle escalated customer queries and complaints with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Monitor feedback and continuously improve the guest experience.
  • Work with head office to roll out promotions, campaigns, and events specific to the Makers Landing branch.
  • Identify and engage with local partnerships and opportunities to drive community visibility.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (3 years) in hospitality, QSR (Quick Service Restaurant), or retail management.
  • Strong track record in managing P&L and delivering growth in a competitive market.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Customer-first mindset with excellent communication skills.
