About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Junior Production Manager to oversee all daily operations of our factory, ensuring policies and procedures are followed while maximizing responsible planning and management of resources, safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the factory
- Plan, organise, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed customer expectations
- Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment
- Increase production, assets capacity, utilisation and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
- Develop and execute the factory manufacturing budgets
- Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time despatch
- Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilise assets to produce optimal results
- Remove waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity
- Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
- Communicate with research and development to develop new product strategies
- Monitor operations and implement corrective actions
- Communicate and build relationships with various unions
- Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage, motivate and develop staff
- Collect and analyse data to find areas of waste or overtime elimination
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity, performance standards and targets to ensure effective return on assets
- Commit to plant safety procedures
- Address employee issues or grievances and ensure swift conclusion thereof
- Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
Requirements
- 3 years proven work experience as a production/factory manager
- Proven managerial experience
- Sound knowledge of employment legislation with regards to the BCEA and Industrial Relations
- Good knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
- Good understanding of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and responsible processes
- Computer literacy able to prepare spreadsheets to analyse data and trends
- Broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
- Ability to influence and strong accountability
- Ability to solve complex manufacturing problems
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment
Qualifications
Degree in Business Management or related field
