About the Role
As a Junior Welder at Career Crew Ltd, you will be assisting senior welders with basic metal fabrication, cutting, fitting, and joining parts using techniques like MIG, TIG, and arc welding, under close supervision, focusing on learning safety protocols, blueprint reading, and quality control to build foundational skills for complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting Senior Welders: Supporting experienced welders with complex tasks, setting up equipment, and learning techniques.
- Metal Preparation: Measuring, cutting, bending, and shaping metal components according to specifications and drawings.
- Welding Operations: Performing basic welds (MIG, TIG, Stick) on components, often in flat or simple positions, as directed.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpreting engineering drawings and process specifications to understand project requirements.
- Quality & Safety: Ensuring welds meet standards, maintaining a clean workspace, adhering to all safety protocols, and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Equipment Maintenance: Cleaning and performing basic upkeep on welding tools and machinery.
- Material Handling: Moving materials and finished products using forklifts or pallet jacks if certified, and organizing stock.
Requirements
Basic understanding of welding principles and metal properties. Familiarity with metalworking hand and power tools (grinders, cutters). Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and measurements. Strong attention to detail, good communication, and a strong work ethic. Eagerness to learn, take direction, and work as part of a team.
Qualifications
Vocational training or entry-level certificate in welding is often required.
