About the Role

Caprichem (Pty) Ltd, a leading manufacturer in the personal care industry, is seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of laboratory management, ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the workplace is always neat and clean (A place for everything, and everything on its place)
  • Implement and maintain safety standards in the laboratory
  • Conduct QC testing on production batches in process
  • Manage and maintain the Retention Sampling process
  • Calibrate Laboratory equipment and maintain the calibration register
  • Maintain and replenish Laboratory reagents, glassware, and other utensils
  • Assist with R&D work as required
  • Monitor the cross-check of all Raw Materials weighed off by Mixers and ensure accuracy
  • Identify training needs for Mixers and conduct training where required
  • Assist with Internal Audits as required
  • Identify new/improved test methods and/or equipment to keep the Company at the forefront of development
  • Ensure compliance with SABS updates and audits

Requirements

  • A formal qualification in chemistry is required
  • 3-5 Years experience as lab manager in the chemical manufacturing industry
  • Experience in personal care is essential
  • Good knowledge of Quality management systems, ISO 9001, and SABS
