About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join our team at Optimum Fire Protection in Midrand. As a Junior QS, you will be responsible for supporting the quantity surveying functions on various construction projects, ensuring accurate measurements, cost reporting, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Measuring of quantities off plans
- Conducting measurement checks, re-measuring on site
- Recording of information on plant, equipment, staff, materials, labour and consumables
- Prepare cost reports for each site
- Monitor material usage for each site
- Monitor measurements for each site
- Ensure quality of installation is of high standard
- Draw up weekly programmes for each Cape Town based site
- Ensure weekly programmes are on track
- Ensure sign offs are completed
- Ensure project deadlines are met
- Attend all required meetings
- Liaise with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors
- Prepare reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessment etc.
- Keep track of materials and order more when required
- Travel from the office to various sites as required
Requirements
- Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
- Basic knowledge of construction methods and materials
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quantity surveying software
Qualifications
- Currently registered with the South African Council for the Built Environment (SACOB) or willing to register within 6 months
- Relevant internship experience in quantity surveying
Salary & Benefits
- Competitive salary range: R400,000 – R500,000 per annum, depending on experience
