About the Role

This strategic National Key Account Manager role is ideal for a commercially driven professional with a passion for building and growing high-value retail partnerships. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving profitability across key national accounts through effective pricing strategies, management of trading terms, optimisation of customer and product mix, and implementation of customer-focused growth strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic account plans to drive sales growth, profitability and long-term customer partnerships.
  • Manage the overall sales function for assigned national key accounts, ensuring revenue and margin targets are achieved.
  • Lead and participate in customer negotiations, including pricing, promotional activity and trading agreements.
  • Monitor and analyse sales performance, forecasts, market trends and account profitability to identify growth opportunities.
  • Manage budgets, trade investment, discounts and discretionary spend in line with company objectives and financial targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders to support business growth and service excellence.
  • Ensure effective execution of promotional and pricing strategies across all assigned accounts.
  • Conduct regular account reviews, performance meetings and business presentations with relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise supply chain, forecasting and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, cost saving initiatives and increased market penetration.
  • Provide leadership, direction and support to team members while driving a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, processes and quality standards across all account management activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Marketing, Sales or a related commercial field
  • Valid drivers licence and reliable vehicle essential
  • Minimum of 6-8 years experience within Key Accounts, Trade Marketing or Operations
  • Proven experience managing large retail client portfolios
  • Strong understanding of account strategy implementation, volume forecasting and budget management
