About the Role
The Junior Buyer role at our company in Johannesburg requires a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team. As a Junior Buyer, you will be responsible for handling local procurement of packaging materials, working closely with the external sales team to ensure accurate, cost-effective, and timely procurement aligned with customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Handling all local procurement of packaging materials, including paper, plastic, and related products
- Working closely with the external sales team to ensure accurate, cost-effective, and timely procurement aligned with customer requirements
- Buying, ordering, planning, and handling stock replenishment in line with MRP requirements
- Working closely with the sales team to ensure that customer sales forecasts are projected correctly
- Sourcing and procuring paper, plastic, and related packaging products from local suppliers
- Obtaining and evaluating supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing and quality
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with local suppliers
- Issuing and managing purchase orders
- Following up on outstanding orders to ensure on-time delivery
- Maintaining accurate procurement records and documentation
Requirements
- A Matric / Grade 12 is essential for this role
- Tertiary qualification preferred but not essential
- Previous experience in a Junior Buyer or related procurement role within the packaging, manufacturing, distribution, or related industries is preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel)
- Good attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
