About the Role
Join a well-established, reputable retail group known for stability, long-term growth, and a strong national footprint. This role forms part of a dynamic finance team responsible for supporting strategic financial operations across the group. We are seeking an experienced Accountant to contribute to our high-performance finance department within a large, structured corporate environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support preparation of group and brand budgets, forecasts, and monthly updates
- Prepare monthly expense analysis and variance reporting for management accounts
- Compile and distribute monthly departmental expense reports
- Review Branch Monthly Accounts for distribution (Group Operational/Blue Trading Reports)
- Prepare monthly procurement summaries for merchandise and BEE assessment
- Assist with quarterly management accounts for BLNE operations
- Perform general ledger control and management, including journal approvals and trial balance reviews
- Participate in daily/monthly payment cycles as an authorised signatory
- Review month-end Accounts Payable payment remittances
- Assist in drafting statutory annual financial statements
- Liaise with auditors to ensure statutory compliance and timely completion of financial statements
- Support the Group Finance Manager with daily operational outputs and ad-hoc projects
Requirements
Relevant accounting qualification (e.g., BCom Accounting or equivalent)
Experience in financial accounting, reporting, and budgeting processes
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in general ledger systems (experience with SmartStream advantageous)
