About the Role
The Director: Communications and Advancement will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive advancement strategies that support the institution’s mission, vision, and long-term financial sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the institution’s advancement initiatives
- Conceptualise, drive, and implement comprehensive advancement strategies to strengthen philanthropic support, expand strategic partnerships, and enhance alumni engagement
- Cultivate, build, and sustain strong and meaningful relationships with donors, partners, alumni, and a broad range of stakeholders
- Expand the institution’s unencumbered funding base, ensuring the availability of flexible resources to allocate to institutional strategic priorities
- Provide oversight and leadership across media relations, fundraising operations, and the stewardship of the institution’s brand and marketing identity
- Protect and enhance the institution’s reputation and position the institution effectively within the public domain
Requirements
- A relevant B. Degree (NQF level 7)
- Approximately 7 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrable success in fundraising or in any position where the achievement of revenue targets was seen as core to the success of the position
- Demonstrable success in running projects aimed at achieving support for philanthropic programmes
- At least 4 years of experience leading a division/team
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.)
