About the Role
Our client, a leading catering and food manufacturing company in Johannesburg, is seeking an experienced Dispatch Manager to oversee logistics and fleet operations. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, with strong leadership skills and excellent route planning abilities. This role requires the ability to thrive under high-pressure delivery timelines and ensure smooth operations across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate a fleet of 7 vehicles and drivers.
- Plan, optimize and monitor delivery routes to ensure timely distribution across Johannesburg and Pretoria.
- Anticipate demand and arrange for additional vehicles when required.
- Communicate effectively with chefs, clients and internal divisions to ensure smooth operations.
- Enforce strict compliance with delivery and collection paperwork.
- Supervise and support a 2IC (second-in-command) to ensure continuity of operations.
- Monitor traffic conditions and adjust schedules proactively.
- Uphold company standards for punctuality, professionalism and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience in dispatch, logistics or fleet management (preferably in catering, food manufacturing or FMCG).
- Proven track record of managing delivery operations in high-pressure environments.
- Valid drivers license (Code 10 PDP).
- Sound knowledge of transport regulations.
- Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain or Fleet Management (advantageous but not mandatory).
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in dispatch, logistics or fleet management (preferably in catering, food manufacturing or FMCG).
- Proven track record of managing delivery operations in high-pressure environments.
