A reputuable and established company in the chemical industry requires a Production Supervisor: DUTIES: Production Management: Supervise and manage the daily activities of the production team to ensure efficient and timely production of detergent products. Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet customer demands and minimize downtime. Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed to maintain optimal productivity. Quality Control: Ensure that all products meet the companys quality standards, SABS Standards where applicable and ISO9001:2015 QMS requirements. Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on production lines. Identify and address any issues affecting product quality, implementing corrective actions as necessary. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and train production staff to maintain a skilled and motivated workforce. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members. Promote a culture of safety, petit housekeeping, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Safety and Environmental Compliance: Enforce all safety regulations and ensure that the production area is compliant with health and safety standards. Conduct safety training sessions and ensure team members follow safety protocols. Investigate and report any accidents or incidents, implementing measures to prevent recurrence. Enforce good housekeeping practises inside the factories and outside the yard Disposing of waste as per environmental regulations. Inventory and Resource Management: Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products to ensure continuous production flow. Manage usage of Fuel /diesel on forklifts and trucks. Coordinate with the procurement department to order materials as needed. Optimize the use of resources to minimize waste and reduce costs. Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of production equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. Coordinate with the maintenance team and external service providers to schedule regular preventative maintenance and address any equipment malfunctions promptly. Ensure that all equipment is operated in accordance with safety standards and manufacturer guidelines. Be able to operate and troubleshoot production equipment Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including output, downtime, and quality control results. Prepare and submit regular reports on production performance to the General Manager. Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and complies with ISO standards. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and productivity. Participate in lean manufacturing and other improvement initiatives. Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in manufacturing technology. REQUIRMENTS: Diploma in production operations, mechanical engineering or Maintenance Diploma in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Experience with Pneumatic filling machines, speed drivers etc. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the detergent or chemical industry. Strong understanding of production processes, quality control, and safety standards. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Proficient in using production management software and other relevant tools. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with different departments.
