About the Role
We are seeking a skilled CAD/CAM Engineer to join our production engineering team. As a key member of our factory engineering department, you will be responsible for optimizing and automating production processes, improving product quality, and reducing costs. You will work closely with shopfloor teams to implement process improvements and develop solutions to complex technical problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Program new orders and complex multi-axis products using CAD/CAM systems such as Siemens NX, Hypermill, or Mastercam Define
- Optimize and automate production processes from NPI stage through to serial production
- Conduct thorough intake and problem analysis of each assignment, exploring possible solutions and mapping the technical impact on product, process, and organisation
- Set up and manage machine models and generate machining operations within CAM systems
- Perform machining simulations using Vericut and Vericut Force, and write probing programs
- Develop, maintain, and apply macros for the effective use of CAD/CAM systems
- Design fixtures and tooling using CAD software
- Define standard setups and product-specific fixtures to achieve optimal machining processes
- Actively improve existing programs with a focus on cycle time reduction and cost savings
- Support production management in improving product and process quality, technology, working methods, and costs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience at bachelor level
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a production engineering environment with a strong focus on process automation, including PLM, standardisation, tool data management, and related technologies
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, including feeds and speeds, materials, cutting tools, fixtures, and clamping technology
Qualifications
- Solid experience in NC programming for milling machines in NPI stage and beyond
- Proven track record of improving existing programs, reducing cycle times, and lowering costs
- Experience measuring and working with tight tolerances on complex, high-accuracy parts
- Knowledge of and experience with systems such as Soflex, TDM, Vericut, Vericut Force, and Siemens NX
