Key Responsibilities
Procurement
- Source and purchase raw materials, packaging, maintenance spares, and production-related goods.
- Raise purchase orders on ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Odoo, Syspro).
- Ensure procurement is aligned with production schedules and stock levels.
- Maintain accurate records of orders, delivery dates, and supplier terms.
- Supplier Management
- Identify, assess, and develop reliable suppliers.
- Negotiate best prices, payment terms, and contracts.
- Monitor supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery).
- Resolve supplier non-conformance issues and late deliveries.
- Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor stock levels and reorder to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Track procurement costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Coordinate with stores / warehouses on incoming goods.
Compliance & Systems
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, B-BBEE requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain procurement data on ERP systems.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production, quality, finance, and engineering teams.
- Provide input on forecasting, planning, and new product development.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Logistics, or related field.
- CIPS or SAPICS certification is advantageous
- 35 years experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong ERP system knowledge (SAP, Syspro, Odoo, etc.).
- Experience in working with technical drawings/specifications is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Analytical and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of supply chain and inventory management principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and procurement systems.
- Problem-solving and ability to work under pressure.
- Knowledge of B-BBEE, local sourcing, and import/export compliance
