About the Role

A specialised AI consulting firm is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join our team, offering the opportunity to work on high-impact AI initiatives within the banking sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimise machine learning models for banking applications.
  • Implement scalable ML pipelines and integrate them into production environments.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver end-to-end AI solutions.
  • Deploy, monitor, and maintain ML models in AWS environments.
  • Ensure model reliability, reproducibility, and performance throughout the lifecycle.
  • Document methodologies, workflows, and best practices.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in machine learning, data science, or related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Experience with large datasets and SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Essential: Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (SageMaker, S3, Lambda, EC2, Glue, Redshift).
  • Familiarity with MLOps practices and CI/CD for ML pipelines.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a track record of translating business needs into technical solutions.

Salary & Benefits

Contract rate: R550 to R750 per hour, salary negotiable based on experience.

About the Role

A boutique AI advisory firm is expanding its team and seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to help deliver transformative AI solutions across the banking domain. This role offers the chance to contribute to large-scale, business-critical initiatives where advanced machine learning is used to drive smarter decisions and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine machine learning solutions tailored to complex use cases within the banking sector.
  • Create robust, scalable ML workflows and embed them seamlessly into live production systems.
  • Work closely with data scientists, engineers, and business partners to deliver fully realised, end-to-end AI capabilities.
  • Release, observe, and support models in AWS-based environments, ensuring smooth operation at scale.
  • Uphold high standards for model stability, repeatability, and efficiency across the entire ML lifecycle.
  • Capture and share technical approaches, processes, and standards to promote consistency and best practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a similar quantitative field.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in machine learning, data science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python with strong practical experience using ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
  • Proven experience working with large-scale datasets, including both SQL and NoSQL data stores.
