Job Description
Auto Electrical Assistance:
- Assist the Auto Electrician with electrical maintenance on mobile crushers, screens, and support equipment.
Assist with fault finding on:
- Wiring harnesses
- Sensors and control systems
- Lighting systems
- Starter motors and alternators
- Batteries and charging systems
- Assist with installation and repairs of electrical components.
- Support diagnostics using basic testing equipment.
- Assist with cable routing, repairs, and component replacement.
Plant & Equipment Support:
- Assist with electrical inspections during scheduled maintenance.
- Conduct pre-start electrical checks on equipment.
- Report electrical faults and abnormal equipment behaviour.
- Assist with breakdown response and repairs.
Operational Support:
- Assist operators with basic troubleshooting.
- Support plant start-up and shutdown procedures where required.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas around equipment.
Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to Mine Health & Safety Act requirements.
- Follow lock-out and isolation procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Identify and report unsafe electrical conditions.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an auto electrical or heavy equipment environment.
- Basic knowledge of 12V and 24V auto electrical systems.
- Experience working on mobile mining or construction equipment is advantageous.
- Medically fit for a mining environment.
