About the Role
Our client is a rapidly expanding infrastructure-driven organisation operating mission-critical sites across South Africa. They require a commercially astute Commercial Finance Manager to take full accountability for a key legal entity, while contributing at group revenue level. Positioned between finance, operations, and sales, this role demands both strategic thinking and operational depth. You’ll partner closely with executive-level stakeholders, lead a geographically spread finance team, and stay deeply involved in the numbers. This is a delivery-focused role where execution carries more weight than titles.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end financial ownership of a legal entity, operating as a business finance lead
- Oversight of revenue processes within a high-volume billing and collections environment
- Management of debtors, escalations, and complex client interactions
- Hands-on operational finance including reconciliations, journals, and variance analysis
- Commercial support on contracts, pricing models, and sales initiatives
- Leadership, coaching, and performance management of a distributed finance team
- Financial partnering with C-suite and senior operational stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with IFRS, internal controls, and financial governance standards
Requirements
- BCom/BAcc or equivalent 3-year tertiary qualification in Finance
- CA(SA) or CIMA
- 4+ years’ experience in a Financial Manager or Commercial Finance role
- Strong technical accounting background
- Proven IFRS knowledge, with IFRS 16 experience non-negotiable
- Solid people leadership and stakeholder engagement track record
- Experience in high-volume, deadline-driven environments
- Advanced Excel with strong analytical capability
- Commercially minded with confident, professional stakeholder presence
