Job Summary
Hire Resolve is currently seeking an experienced Toolroom Manager to join our clients facility located in Johannesburg. The Toolroom Manager will be responsible for overseeing the toolroom operations, ensuring timely production and maintenance of tooling that meets quality standards and production requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate tooling resources to ensure efficient, timely production aligned with quality standards.
- Implement and maintain a production planning system.
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma principles; identify deficiencies and recommend changes.
- Conduct root cause analysis and resolve issues.
- Contribute to best practice vision, strategy, policies, and procedures for operational performance.
- Identify and assess business improvement opportunities and new initiatives.
- Supervise tool room operations ensuring safety compliance.
- Manage procedural assessments for new equipment/tool designs.
- Optimize resource usage, maintain computerized logs for tools, and ensure proper tool organization.
- Oversee tooling manufacturing from technical drawings, providing quotations and ensuring timely QA.
- Manage, coach, and develop a high-performing tool room team with clear objectives and KPIs.
- Foster a positive team atmosphere and oversee staffing, training, and performance reviews.
- Mentor apprentices and encourage team cohesion.
- Implement and manage tool room budgets; ensure projects remain within budget.
- Identify and recommend cost reduction opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with co-workers and customers to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate across departments and communicate market changes affecting tooling strategy.
- Maintain high work standards, conduct mould QA, and address delays promptly.
- Commit to familiarization with ISO 9001:2015 standards and related procedures
Requirements:
- Trade Tested Toolmaker
- Minimum 7 years experience in Plastic Injection
- Plastic Injection, Pneumatic and Hydraulic experience
- Proficient in MS Office for document creation, data analysis, and presentations.
- Experienced with MS Project or similar project planning software for scheduling and resource management.
- Skilled in CAD and CNC programming for precision manufacturing.
- Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and design.
- Experienced with Mastercam or Edgecam for CNC machining operations.
- Knowledgeable in plastic and raw materials through specialized coursework.
- Capable of understanding and maintaining technical drawings for accurate production.
