Responsibilities:
- Loading & Route Preparation:
- Load and verify goods for the assigned delivery route, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with the packing of orders when needed to meet delivery schedules.
- Ensure that only goods for the assigned route are loaded and secured.
- Double-check that all items are packed and loaded in the correct order as per the trip sheet.
- Route Management & Delivery Execution:
- Review the trip sheet and become familiar with the daily delivery route.
- Confirm that all orders are complete and that no items are missing.
- Coordinate with the van assistant to ensure proper loading and organization of parcels.
- Verify the contents of the van with security before departure to ensure they match the trip sheet.
- Complete necessary documentation, including delivery times, drop-offs, recipient signatures, and mileage.
- Vehicle Maintenance & Safety:
- Perform regular checks on the vehicle to ensure it is in safe and operational condition.
- Maintain a clean, odor-free, and organized vehicle, adhering to all hygiene and safety standards.
- Ensure no unauthorized goods or individuals are in the vehicle during transit.
- Customer Service & Documentation:
- Ensure accurate deliveries and complete all necessary paperwork, including recipient signatures and trip sheet details.
- Address any delivery-related queries before departure, ensuring timely and efficient service.
- Follow route plans carefully to minimize delays and avoid getting lost.
- Work with supervisors to resolve any issues with deliveries or goods before leaving the depot.
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Proven experience in delivery driving or a similar role is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling deliveries.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently.
