Africa: Financial Director (Expat, Senegal) posted by Network International

• Strategic Leadership:
  • Drive the financial strategy aligned with corporate objectives and local market conditions.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the MD and executive team on financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support the development of expansion strategies, including investment, partnerships, and M&A activities.
• Financial Management & Reporting:
  • Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with local (OHADA) accounting standards and IFRS.
  • Manage timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings and reporting.
  • Present financial results and analysis to internal stakeholders and Board members.
• Governance, Risk & Compliance:
  • Ensure full compliance with Senegalese tax regulations, central bank requirements, and all other local financial laws.
  • Maintain and enhance internal control systems and risk management frameworks.
  • Liaise with External Auditors, Tax Advisors, and Legal Counsel.
• Treasury & Cash Flow:
  • Oversee cash flow management, working capital, and liquidity planning.
  • Develop and maintain banking relationships and optimize capital structure.
  • Monitor FX exposure and implement appropriate hedging or mitigation strategies.
• Team Management:
  • Build and lead a high-performing local finance team.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance management to finance staff.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience (Essential):

• Chartered Accountant (CA, CPA, and ACCA) or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
• Minimum of 10 years senior financial leadership experience, preferably in a multinational or emerging market environment.
• Previous experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa, ideally Francophone West Africa.
• Experience in industries such as Food Processing or Manufacturing.
• Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
• French language skills (professional proficiency).
• Experience reporting financials in accordance with US GAAP.
• Big 4 Audit experience preferred.
• Must have solid experience working in a multinational company.
