Job Description
Lead maintenance excellence on a complex, high-availability mining site. Own the maintenance system, uphold safety and quality, and deliver on a demanding SLA.
You will implement and continuously improve a fit-for-purpose maintenance regime across planned, preventative, corrective, and emergency work. The role balances hands-on technical oversight with leadership of a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring resource optimisation, cost control, and timely availability of spares to keep critical assets running. You will champion risk identification and mitigation, and drive continuous improvement to enhance reliability and reduce downtime.

What Youll Do
- Implement, monitor, and improve maintenance strategies (planned, preventative, corrective, emergency) to meet SLA commitments.
- Identify and manage maintenance risks across plant, equipment, and infrastructure, driving practical solutions.
- Embed HSE, Quality, and Risk Management systems aligned to MHSA, site policies, and relevant SANS standards.
- Optimise labour, contractors, tools, and parts usage; ensure timely availability of critical spares.
- Oversee quality, cost, and timeliness of work; perform audits, inspections, and performance reviews.
- Lead supplier and contractor management with back-to-back SLAs; address non-conformance decisively.
- Support technical projects and provide specialist input to incident investigations and DMR inspections.
- Manage budgets, reporting, and cost-saving initiatives without compromising reliability or safety.
- Develop team capability through training, coaching, and succession planning; manage rosters and leave.
- Accept legal appointments (as applicable on-site structure) and fulfill statutory duties and documentation.
What You Bring
- BTech/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related Engineering.
- 5+ years relevant maintenance engineering experience in mining or heavy industry with SLA delivery.
- Strong grasp of MHSA, SANS, ISO 9001, risk and quality systems; audit-ready mindset.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) and working knowledge of SAP.
- Valid SA drivers licence; proven contractor, budget, and team leadership experience.
