Qualifications Matric Trade Test Certificate (Diesel Mechanic, Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic, or similar) Requirements 510 years hands-on experience in repairing and rebuilding mining machinery. 3 years in a supervisory or management role in a mining or heavy industrial workshop. Strong knowledge of mining equipment brands (e.g., CAT, Volvo, Metso). Familiarity with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical diagnostic systems Duties Workshop Operations Plan, coordinate, and manage daily workshop activities related to diagnostics, repair, and overhaul of mining equipment. Supervise complete machine rebuilds and component refurbishments (e.g., engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems). Ensure all work is completed in accordance with OEM specifications and industry standards. Team Management Lead and supervise a team of artisans, fitters, welders, mechanics, and apprentices. Allocate tasks, monitor performance, and conduct on-the-job training and mentoring. Ensure proper shift coverage and productivity targets are met. Quality & Technical Oversight Perform technical assessments and root cause failure analysis on major components and machines. Ensure the use of correct tools, parts, and methods in all repair and rebuild work. Approve final inspections and quality control checks before equipment is returned to service. Health & Safety Enforce all workshop health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with site and legal safety standards. Conduct safety toolbox talks, risk assessments, and incident investigations as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment. Resource & Inventory Management Manage inventory of spare parts, tooling, lubricants, and consumables. Coordinate procurement with the stores or supply chain team to minimize downtime. Track usage and report discrepancies or delays in parts supply. Documentation & Reporting Maintain detailed service and rebuild records for all machinery and components. Provide regular reports on workshop performance, machine turnaround times, and cost tracking
