Group Financial Accountant (Finance × IT) Cape Town Are you a qualified accounting professional with a passion for process optimisation, systems development and technology-enabled finance ? Stratlab is representing a leading retail group in Cape Town seeking a forward-thinking Group Financial Accountant to sit at the critical intersection of Finance and IT . This is a rare opportunity for someone who loves numbers and systems a problem-solver who can consolidate a group, improve processes, guide system development, and elevate the finance function into a streamlined, next-generation operation. What Youll Do Financial Reporting & Consolidation Prepare accurate monthly consolidated management accounts for the Group. Maintain the full monthly consolidation pack, including eliminations, intercompany reconciliations and group adjustments. Prepare monthly trial balances for smaller subsidiaries when needed. Draft annual consolidated financial statements in line with IFRS. Review subsidiary submissions for quality, completeness, and policy compliance. Post group-level journals: consolidation entries, foreign exchange movements, intercompany eliminations. Budgeting & Forecasting Consolidate group budgets and forecasts across all entities. Provide financial insights that support strategic reviews and business planning. Audit & Compliance Act as the primary liaison with external auditors. Coordinate audit documentation and ensure group and subsidiary audits are completed on time. Uphold statutory and regulatory compliance across the group. VAT & Tax Oversee and submit monthly VAT returns for all group entities. Assist with corporate income tax calculations and manage communication with tax advisors. Internal Controls, Systems & Process Improvement Maintain and improve group accounting policies and internal controls. Identify inefficiencies and drive process improvement initiatives across finance. Support the build, mapping and integrity of the group reporting system . Work closely with IT to bridge the gap between finance needs and system functionality including contributing to development conversations involving SQL, PHP or related technologies . Other Responsibilities Support ad-hoc financial projects such as acquisitions, restructures or system migrations. Collaborate cross-functionally to provide insights that strengthen business decision-making. Assist with cash flow forecasting and treasury support. What Were Looking For A strong technical Chartered accountant with real, hands-on finance experience. Someone who understands consolidations, IFRS, group reporting, and controls . A systems-minded professional who can engage meaningfully with IT teams. Experience or comfort working with SQL, PHP or similar tools (not as a developer, but as a finance-systems collaborator). A proactive, analytical thinker who enjoys improving processes, building better structures, and moving a business into the next generation of financial efficiency.
