Cape Town City Centre: Junior Hardware Engineer

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Assist with designing electronic circuits and schematics for new and existing products Support PCB layout, component selection, and hardware documentation Build and test prototypes, performing debugging under the guidance of Senior Engineers Conduct hardware validation, measurements, and functional testing using lab equipment Contribute to design reviews and suggest improvements Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including BOMs and test reports Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and production teams to ensure smooth integration Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline Understanding of analog and digital electronics fundamentals Basic experience with PCB design tools (Altium, KiCad, Eagle, etc.) Familiarity with microcontrollers and common communication interfaces (SPI, I²C, and UART) Ability to use test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies Good problem-solving ability and willingness to learn

Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and technically curious Junior Electronic Hardware Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on hardware development, problem-solving, and learning from experienced engineers while contributing to real product designs from day one. Key Responsibilities Assist in the design, development, and testing of electronic circuits and hardware systems Create and update schematic designs and PCB layouts Support prototype assembly, bring-up, and debugging Perform hardware verification, testing, and documentation Collaborate with cross-functional teams including firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives Essential Qualifications Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline Basic understanding of analogue and digital circuit design Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad, OrCAD) Ability to use standard test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analysers) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Good written and verbal communication skills
