Job Summary To ensure SHEQ standards are maintained within the various facilities. To develop, institute and maintain an integrated SHEQ management system. Responsibilities Developing the organisations integrated SHEQ management system In support of and in refining of WastePlans vision and purpose, for the growth and strengthening of WastePlan. This should be conducted in a way which supports mutual thriving of the broader community both environmentally and socially By effectively engaging with WastePlans EXCO and other department heads for a coherent and adaptable SHEQ system at all levels of the WastePlan structure Instituting and maintaining a SHEQ management system, in line with ISO compliant integrated management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001) Ensuring that all WastePlan group of companies and sites are appropriately licensed with the relevant government bodies from national, to provincial and local authorities Inspire and track the implementation of WastePlans SHEQ policy and plan Maintain an updated aspects / hazards / impacts / risks register as part of an integrated HIRA Address high risks areas with management programs, SOPs and work instructions Monitoring and tracking of compliance with WastePlans SHEQ system, both internally as well as externally concerning our suppliers and contractors Identifying non-conformances and actioning appropriate measures to address it Ensure that all incidents, accidents, near misses and unsafe acts are reported, investigated and preventative actions are implemented To conduct internal audits, as well as prepare and schedule external audits by accredited auditors To achieve ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 compliance, in discussion with EXCO Monitoring and reporting on WastePlan`s SHEQ performance, both internally and externally, with the aim of continual improvement Communicate with the applicable authorities where necessary Responsible for all SHEQ communication and awareness Communicating with the General Managers and all department heads, concerning SHEQ management Provide communication and support to Supervisors and Managers regarding WastePlan SHEQ policies, continuous improvement plans and procedures Responsible for environmental (as well as other) SHEQ awareness modules in employee induction sessions Daily and monthly task checks Develop and write SOPs and work instructions when required Undertake HIRAs when applicable and record to prevent and mitigate risks as identified Facilitate SHEQ committee meetings Ensure that the highest responsible person per area chair the committee meetings and act as a co-opted member in all SHEQ meetings Ensure effective document and data control Ensure that all information and documentation are current and relevant in safety files for commercial sites Conduct client site inspections when required and adapt the safety file if applicable Ensure that all IODs and first aid cases are reported and recorded, to assist the HR department Investigate all incidents and accidents Ensure preventative and mitigation measures are implemented after all investigations / incidents Conduct internal audits for sites, liaise with management on the findings and ensure that the findings are closed out Ensure that all MRF SHE Representatives conduct their daily internal audits on fire equipment, housekeeping and personal protective equipment Ensure that monthly checklists are completed by the MRF SHE Representatives Ensure that all legal appointments are signed and current Plan and assist with emergency evacuation drills and record outcome Make sure that vendors and contractors comply with company SHEQ standards Training: provide the Training Manager with all relevant information regarding employee training for SHEQ related functions (keep valid and current) Assist the transport department with SHEQ and ensure that you attend the transport meetings Assist the operations department with SHEQ and ensure that you attend the operations meetings Ensure that the legal register is up to date Attend policy meetings and provide input Assist HR with managing pregnant employees as per the SOP and policy Compile consolidated month end report with TRCRs Follow up on occupational hygiene surveys Requirements Matric / grade 12 and a relevant Diploma / Degree Minimum of 5 years management experience is required Relevant qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills in logistics, SHEQ, HR, production etc. Knowledge and experience in related waste management and recycling is preferred High proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential Valid drivers license Employment will be implemented in accordance with the Employment Equity Act.
