About the Role
The successful candidate will take full accountability for the daily manufacturing plan, ensuring that production targets are achieved on time, within budget, to required quality standards, and in a safe working environment. This role is responsible for overseeing the effective conversion of raw materials into finished goods through optimal utilisation of machinery, systems, and people.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving attainment of daily production targets and accurate reporting of planned vs actual output
- Leading and motivating production teams to deliver high performance
- Implementing and championing Lean manufacturing, 5S, and waste reduction initiatives
- Ensuring compliance with all internal policies, BCEA, LRA, Bargaining Council Main Agreements, and OHS legislation
- Managing performance, training, multiskilling, and workforce planning
- Partnering with Maintenance to ensure preventative maintenance schedules are executed
- Managing raw material yield and reducing operational waste
- Embedding a strong quality culture aligned to “Do it Right the First Time” principles
- Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and emergency procedures
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
- Tertiary qualification in a Production-related discipline (essential)
- Post-matric qualification in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (advantageous)
