About the Role
The Senior Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation and consistent follow-up of business unit policies and procedures, as well as maintaining compliance with all legal and statutory SHEQ requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of SHEQ legislation and ISO standards, as well as excellent leadership and supervisory skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure business unit policies and procedures are effectively implemented and consistently followed
- Monitor and maintain compliance with all legal and statutory SHEQ requirements
- Implement and conduct route and site inspections in line with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 standards
- Conduct visits to vessels and various operational sites to ensure safety compliance
- Perform risk assessments and identify mitigation measures
- Compile and maintain project safety files and documentation packs
- Lead incident and accident investigations, including reporting and corrective actions
- Coordinate and manage employee inductions and safety onboarding processes
- Facilitate toolbox talks and safety awareness initiatives
- Coordinate and participate in safety meetings with stakeholders
- Conduct and manage customer satisfaction surveys relating to SHEQ performance
- Liaise with management teams to ensure full legislative and operational compliance
Requirements
- SAMTRAC qualification (essential)
- NEBOSH qualification (advantageous)
