Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Project Manager to oversee and manage residential housing projects with a specific focus on renewable energy in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered within budget, scope, and time frame. Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Execution
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including defining project scope, goals, deliverables, and timeline.
- Coordinate and oversee project activities, ensuring adherence to quality standards, building codes, regulatory requirements, and health and safety guidelines.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and implement corrective measures to ensure successful project completion.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
2. Budgeting and Cost Control
- Prepare accurate and realistic project budgets, considering all relevant costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and third-party services.
- Monitor and control project expenditures, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures and opportunities for value engineering without compromising quality.
3. Stakeholder Management
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to facilitate project success.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide project updates, address concerns, and manage expectations.
- Ensure that all stakeholders are informed about project milestones, changes, and potential risks.
4. Renewable Energy Integration
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to integrate renewable energy solutions into residential housing projects.
- Stay updated with the latest sustainable building practices and renewable energy technologies.
- Implement and promote green building techniques, energy efficiency measures, and sustainable materials throughout the project.
5. Resource Management
- Manage project resources, including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Address any resource constraints or conflicts promptly and efficiently.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field would be beneficial
- Proven experience (5 to 10 plus years) as a Construction Project Manager in the residential housing sector
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop comprehensive project plans, track progress, and ensure timely completion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
