We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Electrical Engineer with at least 5 years of relevant experience in electrical systems installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting within data center environments. The ideal candidate will hold relevant certifications (Wiremans License, Trade Test), and have specialized knowledge in HVAC, electrical systems, or generators (gensets). Candidates with experience in companies such as Bidvest, Apollo Air, Boron, Pro Test, Power Tech, NEC-XON, or DCI are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform operation and maintenance of data center electrical systems including:
  • Transformers
  • Power distribution cabinets
  • UPS (Masterguard, Liebert APM, Newave preferred)
  • Lead-acid batteries
  • Switching power supplies
• Maintain and repair complete electrical wiring systems including:
  • Conduits, cables, conductors
  • Switches, outlets, device plates, receptacles, grounding
  • Light fixtures and emergency lighting systems
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot:
  • Power generation systems (gensets)
  • Emergency backup systems
  • Large uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)
  • Electrical units such as generators, motors, voltage regulators
• Diagnose faults, splice/replace wiring, rewind armatures and field coils
• Ensure all electrical work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant safety standards

Candidate Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 5 years in electrical installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
• At least 23 years in data center operation and maintenance preferred
• Familiarity with UPS brands like Masterguard, Liebert APM, Newave is a strong advantage

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Higher National Diploma (HND) from a technical college or university of technology accepted

Professional Certifications

• Registered Professional Engineering Technician with ECSA or equivalent
• Wiremans License
• Trade Test Certificate
• Valid Safety Operation and Electrical Regulations Certificates

Preferred Background

• Candidates from companies such as Bidvest, Apollo Air, Boron, Pro Test, Power Tech, NEC-XON, and DCI will be given priority
• Candidates with dual HVAC/electrical/generator experience are preferred
