Cape Town: Data Engineer (Python) posted by PBT Group

PBT Group is seeking a Data Engineer with strong Python experience. The role involves end-to-end development, including fetching and manipulating data from multiple sources, as well as designing and developing front-end solutions in QlikView or QlikSense to deliver insights to business.

Key Responsibilities

QlikView / QlikSense

• Maintain and enhance existing QlikView/QlikSense models.
• Occasionally design and develop new front-end dashboards for business consumption.
• Identify and decide which metrics and insights are most valuable to present.
• Ensure changes and developments are well-documented.
• Collaborate with a team of QlikView/QlikSense developers for support.

Python

• Perform API calls (RESTful, SOAP, Graph).
• Manipulate and transform data into required formats (e.g. JSON/XML to CSV).
• Conduct basic functional Python development and debugging (OOP concepts not required).
• Configure email alerts/triggers for summaries or failures.
• Perform fault finding and troubleshooting with limited support.

SQL

• Apply a basic understanding of SQL for development and querying purposes.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Prefect (or Airflow).
• Familiarity with Git in combination with Prefect.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes (advantageous but not required).
