About the Role

Sagen Advisory is seeking a motivated and experienced Part-time Financial Accountant / Consultant to join its team in Cape Town, Western Cape. The ideal candidate will work 2 to 3 days per week, providing strategic and operational insights to ensure the accurate processing, analysis, and documentation of financial data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting.
  • Assist with budgets and forecasts.
  • Monthly bookkeeping, ensuring capture of all financial transactions.
  • Ensure transactions are supported by the appropriate documentation and are captured accurately and timeously.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Writing up more complex accounting records of clients.
  • Responsible for calculating VAT, PAYE and other necessary SARS requirements on a monthly basis.
  • Manage Debtors and Creditors functions.
  • Responsible for monthly Payroll.
  • Calculate monthly agent commissions.
  • Inventory management and accounting.
  • Petty Cash management.
  • Maintain fixed asset register.
  • Responsible for review of invoicing and payments.
  • Foreign supplier APN number generation and payment release on banking platform.
  • Adherence to relevant laws and regulations by staying up-to-date with legislation.
  • Perform ad hoc duties and tasks.

Requirements

  • Degree in finance or accounting.
  • Completed articles – SAIPA, SAICA or CIMA, will be an advantage.
  • Professional financial qualifications will be highly valued.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in finance, accounting, or assurance.
  • Experience with Pastel Evolution or similar accounting system.
  • Wholesale stock/inventory, manufacturing, or related experience.
