Job Description

Hospitality Hire is assisting a large, well-established 4-star luxury hotel in the appointment of an experienced Hotel Maintenance Supervisor to support the day-to-day upkeep and operational reliability of a 359-room property . This role is suited to a hands-on maintenance professional with strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and proven experience within busy hotel environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the hotels facilities, rooms, and public areas are maintained to the highest standards, supporting both guest satisfaction and operational continuity. Key Responsibilities Maintenance Operations & Service Delivery Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities across a 359-room hotel Ensure prompt response to guest maintenance requests and operational faults Maintain hotel rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and service areas to 4-star standards Conduct regular inspections to identify defects, preventative maintenance needs, and safety risks Supervision & Team Coordination Supervise maintenance staff, contractors, and external service providers Allocate tasks, monitor work quality, and ensure deadlines are met Provide on-the-job guidance, training, and support to maintenance team members Maintain clear communication with housekeeping, front office, and operational departments Preventative Maintenance & Asset Care Implement and manage preventative maintenance schedules Ensure all plant, equipment, and systems are maintained in line with manufacturer and statutory requirements Monitor the condition of hotel assets and report on repair or replacement needs Health; Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, hotel standards, and statutory requirements Enforce safety procedures, risk assessments, and maintenance-related policies Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and compliance documentation Administration & Reporting Assist with maintenance reporting, work orders, and job tracking systems Support stock control for tools, spares, and maintenance consumables Liaise with management regarding ongoing maintenance issues and capital projects Minimum Requirements Matric or equivalent qualification Relevant technical qualification or trade certification (Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, or Building-related) Proven experience as a Maintenance Supervisor or Senior Maintenance Technician within a hotel environment Minimum 35 years experience in hotel or large-scale building maintenance Experience within 4- or 5-star hotels preferred Strong knowledge of general building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment CV must be fully updated prior to submission Key Skills & Attributes Strong hands-on maintenance and supervisory skills Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding ability Organised; proactive, and detail-focused Strong communication and coordination skills Calm and reliable under pressure Guest-focused mindset with high service standards Whats on Offer Opportunity to work in a large, high-profile luxury hotel environment Exposure to a complex 359-room operation with diverse technical systems Career development within a structured hospitality operation Competitive salary and employee benefits Recruitment is aligned with the clients Employment Equity Plan.
