Job Description
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or mechanical production environment
- Experience within high volume or repetitive production environments preferred
- Proven exposure to supervision, shop floor coordination and production control
- Strong understanding of Health and Safety legislation
Formal schooling / degree
- Qualification in Operations Management or Production Management – Essential
- Mechanical Engineering or related technical qualification preferred
Responsibilities
- Execute daily production plans to achieve takt time, throughput, and on-time delivery targets.
- Supervise operators to maintain continuous flow, balance lines, and minimise stoppages.
- Monitor performance, cycle times, and bottlenecks, implementing immediate corrective and recovery actions.
- Drive adherence to standard operating procedures and ensure specialised processes meet specification.
- Promote Right First Time manufacturing to reduce rework and scrap.
- Record and analyse production metrics including output, downtime, waste, and labour efficiency.
- Use data to identify trends, root causes, and support measurable improvements.
- Maintain accurate system and production records.
- Enforce quality standards, process discipline, traceability, and labelling requirements.
- Contain and resolve defects quickly while supporting root cause and corrective actions.
- Promote a zero-defect culture.
- Ensure completion of autonomous maintenance checks and support TPM and preventative maintenance.
- Monitor equipment condition, log breakdowns promptly, and drive improved uptime and OEE.
- Lead, coach, and develop teams to meet operational standards.
- Allocate daily tasks, manage attendance and utilisation, and address misconduct or poor performance fairly.
- Maintain training coverage, competency, and accountability.
- Ensure material availability and adherence to ERP and works order controls.
- Manage WIP, scrap, rejects, and stock accuracy to minimise losses.
- Implement Lean principles, sustain 5S, apply visual management, and eliminate waste.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to raise productivity and reduce cost.
- Enforce safe working practices, PPE compliance, and legal requirements.
- Act immediately on hazards and promote a proactive safety culture.
- Control departmental costs including labour, consumables, scrap, and downtime while maintaining quality standards.
