An exclusive 5-star luxury hotel is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier to curate exceptional wine experiences for guests. This role requires a confident and service-driven professional with in-depth wine knowledge, excellent pairing skills, and a natural ability to deliver warm, personalised service within a refined dining environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain an extensive wine list aligned with the hotels culinary offering and guest profile

• Guide guests through wine selections, providing expert advice and pairing recommendations

• Lead wine tastings and educate team members on wine varietals, regions, and trends

• Manage wine cellar inventory, stock rotation, and supplier relationships to ensure premium quality and cost control

• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage team to enhance menu pairings and elevate the overall dining experience

• Monitor wine service standards to ensure a seamless and polished guest experience

• Stay informed on international wine trends, emerging vineyards, and seasonal updates

Skills & Requirements

• Minimum 3 years experience as a Sommelier or Wine Steward within a luxury 4- or 5-star hospitality environment

• Certified wine qualifications (WSET, Cape Wine Academy, or equivalent) highly advantageous

• Strong product knowledge across local and international wines, including varietals, vintages, and terroirs

• Excellent guest engagement skills with the ability to tailor experiences to diverse preferences

• Proficiency in wine inventory systems, stock control, and supplier management
