About the Role
WeBridge Finance and Steed Growth Finance are dynamic, client-focused financial services providers based in Pretoria, South Africa. We specialize in niche bridging finance solutions, including upfront advances on settled Road Accident Fund (RAF) claims, attorney fee financing, and property bridging to empower claimants during lengthy settlement periods. Key Responsibilities
- Review and update legal documentation for RAF bridging advances, attorney fee agreements, purchase order funding, and property finance contracts, ensuring full compliance with South African regulations (e.g., National Credit Act, RAF Act).
- Provide expert advice to clients on financing options, acting as the primary point of contact for any legal queries.
- Conduct due diligence on RAF claims and finance applications, identifying potential legal risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with our finance team to structure deals that align with legal best practices, including negotiation of terms with attorneys and claimants.
- Support client on boarding and ongoing advisory services, including education on bridging finance benefits and timelines (e.g., 180-day RAF waiting periods).
- Monitor regulatory changes in financial and insurance law, updating internal policies and training materials as needed.
- Assist in any dispute management and any debt collection activities.
- Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities for legal-enhanced client support services.
Requirements
- Qualifications: LLB degree with completed articles of clerkship.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in legal practice, preferably in RAF claims, financial services, insurance law, or commercial litigation. Exposure to bridging finance or client-facing advisory roles is highly advantageous.
- Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of contract law, and financial regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client consultations and stakeholder negotiations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis).
- Ability to thrive in an office-based work environment with occasional travel to client meetings.
- Proactive problem-solver with a client-centric mindset and high attention to detail.
