Durban: Truck Fridge Mechanic

Requirements / Qualifications: National Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration, or related field. Minimum of 25 years experience in truck refrigeration maintenance or similar. Knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and refrigeration technology. Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Valid drivers license; a heavy vehicle license is advantageous. Skills and Competencies: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication skills to interact with drivers, suppliers, and management. Commitment to safety and quality standards. Workshop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals. Occasional travel to service trucks on-site. Physical work, including lifting and handling heavy parts. Key Responsibilities: Diagnose, repair, and maintain refrigeration units on trucks and trailers. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns. Install new refrigeration units according to manufacturer specifications. Monitor performance of refrigeration systems and recommend improvements or replacements. Maintain accurate service and repair records. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies while working on refrigeration units. Assist in the procurement of spare parts and ensure proper inventory levels. Collaborate with drivers and fleet staff to report faults and ensure timely repairs. How to Apply:
