Job Summary
Minimum
Requirements:
– Doctoral Degree in a relevant area – Specialization in Public Health – At least 9 years experience in higher education – Extensive teaching and research experience in public health – A track record of international and national accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of Professor – Postgraduate supervision experience including successful Doctoral supervision commensurate with the academic rank of Professor – Evidence of successful national and international fundraising for research. – Recognition as an established scholar in a chosen area of research (e.g., NRF rating, international keynote addresses/ plenary lectures). Added Advantages: – Evidence of professional and academic standing at national and international levels in the field of public health – Evidence of academic leadership and mentorship of early career academics. – Evidence of successfully hosting post-doctoral research fellows. – Evidence of national and international collaboration – Evidence of community engagement integrated with teaching, learning or research
Responsibilities:
– Provide academic leadership in research, curriculum design, development, and implementation – Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules – Meet research publication requirements for the academic rank of professor – Secure external research grants and establish research programs – Supervise all levels of postgraduate students and host post-doctoral fellows – Establish institutional, national and international collaborations – Provide academic leadership and contribute to mentorship of academic staff – Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching and/or research – Contribute to University service and participate in administrative duties at departmental, faculty and university levels.
