About the Role

The HSE Manager role at Unique Personnel Ltd is a critical position that ensures the company complies with its statutory obligations and maintains a safe working environment for all employees. The successful candidate will be based abroad with dotted line reporting to the local General Manager, and will report directly to the Senior HSE Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Overseeing safety for workers through inspections, audits, and research in all company sites.
• Ensuring that the company pays carbon tax on a pro rata basis.
• Budgeting for training of employees for machinery and legislative training such as First Aid.
• Identifying and resolving workplace hazards, ensuring compliance with regulations and developing safety programs.
• Conducting regular safety meetings and analyzing incident data to identify trends and recommend actions to avoid incidents.
• Participating in the planning of programmes that will address problem areas and ensuring implementation of identified interventions.
• Managing records management and verification of documents.

Requirements

• Degree in Safety Management
• Nebosh International Diploma
• NQF Level 5 Risk Assessor Certificate

Customer/Stakeholder Relations Perspective

Manage relationship with all internal departments and provide support where needed.

Attend to unions in terms of safety and introduction of new safety equipment, protocols, and PPE.

Liaise with the Department of Labour through regular reporting.

Identifying best practices and leading continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks.

Raising safety awareness and improving safe work practices.

Developing and recommending improvements to all Quality Management systems.

Ensuring audits of customer sites and plant as a Section 16 Legal Appointee.
