Job Summary
What’s in a Day’s Work?
The Hotel Financial Manager will lead the finance team and oversee all financial and accounting operations, including but not limited to:
Financial and Accounting Management:
- Manage debtors, including processing invoices, reconciling revenue systems, and following up on outstanding accounts.
- Oversee creditors by ensuring correct cost codes, approval processes, and supplier reconciliations.
- Handle cash management, including daily cash-ups, bank reconciliations, and processing petty cash transactions.
- Maintain and update stock management systems, ensuring accurate pricing, linking, and depletion records.
- Process monthly journal entries and ensure reconciliation with supporting documents.
Compliance and Control:
- Establish and maintain internal controls and reporting systems.
- Ensure adherence to financial policies and implement reliable financial control systems.
- Oversee VAT submissions and manage all VAT-related inquiries.
Payroll and HR Coordination:
- Compile and submit payroll data to outsourced providers, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Manage employee records, pension claims, and other HR-related tasks.
Management Reporting and Budgeting:
- Prepare monthly management accounts and monitor expenses against budgets.
- Assist in compiling annual financial statements and facilitate audits.
- Develop and manage income, expenditure, and capital budgets in collaboration with other departments.
General Responsibilities:
- Maintain the fixed asset register and process depreciation schedules.
- Handle insurance policy reviews, claims, and reporting.
- Oversee ad hoc activities such as license renewals, credit applications, and other operational compliance tasks.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial management, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Proven experience with financial controls, compliance, and audit processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).

- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of South African VAT, labor laws, and compliance regulations.
- Experience with stock management systems and payroll processes is advantageous.
