About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Pastry Chef to join our newly opened restaurant at a historic wine estate in Franschhoek. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for creating exquisite desserts, pastries, breads, and baked goods that meet the highest standards. Key Responsibilities
- Create desserts, pastries, breads, and baked goods to the highest standards
- Design seasonal dessert menus in collaboration with the Head Chef
- Maintain consistency in quality, flavour, and presentation
- Train and mentor junior pastry staff
- Ensure mise en place, organisation, and cleanliness of the pastry section
- Monitor stock levels, control waste, and maintain cost efficiency
- Comply with all hygiene, safety, and health standards
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Formal culinary/pastry qualification advantageous
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef in a 4/5* establishment
- Strong creative flair with attention to detail and presentation
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, upmarket kitchen
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Formal culinary/pastry qualification advantageous
