About the Role
The Deputy Factory Manager is a senior management position responsible for delivering maximum quality products in a cost-effective, safe, and reliable manner while maintaining factory assets in a cost-effective way. The successful candidate will lead, direct, and manage all aspects of the business to achieve desired growth, profit, and strategic business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop asset preservation strategy
- Ensure development of maintenance standards for the department
- Implement asset preservation strategy
- Manage maintenance effectiveness
- Drive quality and eliminate defects through continuous improvement
- Recruit, train, and develop people
- Source and manage relationships with external and internal suppliers
- Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules
- Develop people pipeline for business continuity
- Ensure employee accountability for KPIs
- Lead change management
- Promote competency and capability development
- Lead and enable collaboration
- Monitor daily/weekly QC inspection from the Lab to identify areas for efficiencies
- Analyse customer complaints to gain insight into problems to eliminate inefficiencies
Requirements
- NQF Level 6/7 Degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Metallurgy, Millwright, or equivalent qualification)
- Qualification in financial management is advantageous
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualification engineering or process experience in FMCG, Chemical and Processing or Mining industry
