About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing cost analysis, tender documents, and contract negotiations to ensure projects are delivered within budget. This is a great opportunity for a commercially astute individual to work with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to produce practical designs for construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost analysis based on architectural drawings, engineering estimates, materials required, and labour involved
- Prepare cost plans to enable design teams to produce practical designs for construction projects
- Liaise with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
- Evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors and negotiate with the contractors where appropriate
- Monitor all commercial information in relation to project and control stages within predetermined budget and expenditure
- Monitor and keep track of project progress and measure and value variations in work during contract
- Carry out monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting final account
- Provide advice to project staff on commercial and contractual matters, including reviewing and drafting correspondence
- Commercial vetting of sub-contractor tenders and contracts
- Certification of subcontractor monthly valuations and final accounts
- Work as part of a team to ensure client requirements are delivered
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or Quantity Surveying Diploma) obtained from a recognised tertiary institution
- Minimum 1-3 years experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a commercial/property environment
- Commercially astute, numerate, risk-averse, and able to accurately forecast cost
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
