About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Asset Accountant to join our team in Cape Town City Centre, responsible for managing and maintaining accurate records of our fixed assets across their full lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record the cost of newly acquired tangible and intangible fixed assets
  • Track, manage and reconcile fixed assets across their full lifecycle
  • Assign asset tag numbers and maintain accurate asset registers
  • Compile project costs into asset accounts and close projects on completion
  • Record depreciation and account for asset disposals
  • Reconcile the subsidiary fixed asset ledger to the general ledger
  • Prepare periodic physical asset counts across locations
  • Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audits
  • Conduct impairment reviews in line with IFRS (IAS 16 / IAS 36)
  • Create and maintain asset controls, procedures, and documentation
  • Generate regular asset and financial performance reports

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a Fixed Asset / Asset Accounting role
  • Strong technical accounting expertise in IAS 16 and IAS 36
  • Proven experience managing large, geographically dispersed asset portfolios
  • Reconciliation, audit preparation and documentation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (non-negotiable)
  • Experience with Solidi Tech and 4Flow (non-negotiable)
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong systems capability

Accounting OR Bookkeeping Certificate OR Diploma OR Degree
