Job Description
Our client is looking for a Distribution Services Manager from the beverage industry to join their team in Olifantsfontein, GP. The purpose of this role is to support productivity, customer service, and profit growth by enhancing analytics capabilities and optimizing the logistics service network. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining an optimal distribution footprint and service levels through an effective route-to-market strategy. This position reports to the Country Lead: Distribution Services and oversees the Distribution System Specialist and Logistics Analyst.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the optimal distribution network design.
- Identify cost-effective shipment locations across logistics, manufacturing, and warehouse environments.
- Facilitate network design rollout and stakeholder alignment.
- Monitor compliance with distribution initiatives and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct benchmarking and adopt best practices for distribution services.
- Establish analytics capabilities for distribution services and cost-saving strategies.
- Develop and review standard operating practices for distribution.
- Conduct bi-annual reviews to ensure logistics cost efficiency and operational effectiveness.
- Ensure optimal utilization of distribution assets to maximize productivity and reduce costs.
- Manage third-party engagements to ensure adherence to internal processes.
- Support an optimized route-to-market strategy through resource management.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities in distribution operations.
- Assess long-term technology requirements for continuous improvement.
- Develop and manage the distribution budget, considering logistics-to-customer movements and production impact.
- Conduct resource reviews to align with budget plans.
- Monitor budget performance and ensure adherence to planned expenditure.
- Develop and implement work plans aligned with the route-to-market strategy.
- Manage employee and industrial relations to achieve business objectives.
- Mentor and coach team members to build skills and capabilities.
- Implement workforce resourcing plans to meet operational needs.
Requirements:
- A recognized tertiary degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, or a related field.
- 5 to 8 years of relevant logistics experience.
- 3 to 5 years of leadership and team management experience.
- Experience in distribution planning systems and process development.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization with senior stakeholders.
