Job Description

Minimum requirements:

  • Diploma / BSc / Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Must have experience working with Solar / Renewable Energy industry
  • Must be able travel
  • Driver’s license and own car
  • Experience Solar design – non-negotiable

 
Duties will include but is not limited to:

  1. Solar system design and Engineering:
    1. Lead the design and engineering of solar power systems, including photovoltaic (PV) arrays, inverters, storage systems, and electrical distribution.
    2. Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and calculations for solar projects.
    3. Ensure compliance with local regulations, codes, and standards related to solar energy installations.
  1. Leadership:
    1. Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to team members.
    2. Set departmental goals and objectives aligned with the company’s strategic vision.
    3. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
  2. Project Planning and Execution:
    1. Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
    2. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, construction, and operations, to ensure smooth project execution.
    3. Conduct technical reviews and feasibility assessments for solar project proposals.
    4. Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation measures to ensure successful project delivery.
  3. Technical Expertise and Standards:
    1. Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in solar energy systems.
    2. Apply deep knowledge of solar PV systems, electrical equipment, and grid integration requirements.
    3. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, and local utility interconnection guidelines.
    4. Drive innovation and research in solar technologies, evaluating new equipment, components, and system designs.
  4. Quality Assurance and Performance Optimization:
    1. Develop and implement quality assurance processes and standards for solar installations.
    2. Conduct inspections, audits, and testing to ensure compliance and optimal performance.
    3. Analyse system performance data, identify issues, and propose corrective actions.
    4. Optimize solar system designs to maximize energy generation, efficiency, and reliability.
  5. Vendor and Supplier Management:
    1. Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with solar equipment suppliers and vendors.
    2. Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to secure the best value for the company.
    3. Ensure timely delivery of high-quality equipment and materials for solar projects.
    4. Conduct regular assessments of vendor performance and resolve any issues or disputes.
  6. Regulatory Compliance and Stakeholder Engagement:
    1. Stay informed about relevant regulations, incentives, and policies related to solar energy.
    2. Ensure compliance with local permitting, interconnection, and utility requirements.
    3. Engage with regulatory authorities, utilities, and industry organizations to stay updated and influence policy decisions.
    4. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and government agencies.
