External Sales Engineer – Valve Industry (Boksburg)

Role Overview
As an External Sales Engineer, you’ll represent our client in the field, combining technical expertise with consultative selling to build relationships, uncover customer needs, and drive revenue growth across your territory.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a defined sales territory, from prospecting and qualifying leads to closing new business
- Conduct on-site visits to client facilities for product demonstrations and technical guidance
- Draft proposals, quotations, and contracts that align valve solutions to customer specifications
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and after-sales teams to ensure seamless project delivery
- Achieve or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets and KPIs
- Monitor market trends, competitor offerings, and customer feedback to inform product development
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 3–5 years of field-based technical sales experience with valves, piping, or fluid-control products
- Strong understanding of valve types, materials, and process-industry applications
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Willingness to travel frequently within your territory (up to 60%)
Preferred Skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Proficiency with CRM systems and sales reporting tools
- Strong negotiation skills, especially managing multi-million-rand projects
- Customer-centric approach with a consultative selling mindset
